Lena Bouman studied biology in Marburg and Tübingen, specialising in cell biology and genetics. She was a visiting research fellow for a year at the Institut Curie in Paris and at Rockefeller University in New York. The topic of her doctoral thesis in the group of Prof. Dr. Konstanze Winklhofer (Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich/Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen (DZNE)), was the molecular mechanisms of Parkinson's disease.
At CAS, she is responsible for natural sciences and medicine. She also coordinates the institute's exhibition programme “Kunst am CAS”.
Editor of the catalogues published as part of ‘Art at CAS’; highlights include: Art catalogue for ‘10 Jahre Kunst am CAS’ (2018); catalogue for the exhibition ‘Henri Matisse – Jazz’ (winter semester 2024/25).
